Birthday Cake Truffles at Momofuku Milk Bar – NYC

bday cake truffle @ milk bar

Chocolate Malt used to be my favorite cake truffle flavor at Momofuku Milk Bar, but now I’m in love with the Birthday Cake Truffle ($4 for 3), vanilla cake coated with white chocolate and a “rainbow cake crumble” heavy on the rainbow sprinkles. Rather fortunate since Chocolate Malt is no longer on the menu.

The best part of the BDay Cake Truffle is the dense center that tastes almost like raw cookie dough. As with most kids’ birthday cakes covered in sprinkles, the truffle is insanely sweet, but also insanely good. In fact, so good David and I got into an argument when he refused to give me a bite of his truffle. Oh no he didn’t! Hopefully, sugar was to blame.

In case you didn’t know, Milk Bar moved across the street from their previous digs last week so Ssäm Bar could expand. The new space is smaller with no tables, but with the warmer weather here, it’s not a problem. Abe Lebewohl Park and Tompkins Square Park are just a few blocks away. Just get enough truffles to share. These technicolor orbs are incendiary.

    CHOCOLATE MALT IS GONE? NOOOOOOO…

Is the cake still there at least? Not that I’ll ever get to have it given their stupid “buy the whole thing” rule 🙁 Now I can’t even have it in truffle form.

@Nicholas – Didn’t want to be the bearer of bad news, but Chocolate Malt is no more, truffles and cake. 🙁 Perhaps it’ll return in a few months…
