Ever wish the doughnuts at Doughnut Plant were sweeter? I always find them perfect, but I know some people complain they’re not sweet enough. If you’re one of those people, the seasonal cranberry yeast doughnut ($2.75) is the doughnut for you. Made with fresh cranberries, you’d think this bright pink doughnut would be very tart, but it’s actually more sweet than tart. Hardcore sugar fiends, rejoice! Everyone else, order the cranberry, but get your coffee black, no sugar. It’ll keep your sugar high in check.
A more typical Doughnut Plant seasonal doughnut (in terms of sweetness) is the roasted chestnut yeast doughnut ($2.75). The glaze is thin, not too sweet, with chestnut bits studded throughout. Although more chestnuts would be nice, it’s a nice “light” doughnut.
Both doughnuts are around just for the holidays so act fast if you want to try either. If you get there too late, no fear, a crème brûlée doughnut awaits.
