Locanda Verde is great, but sometimes you don’t want to wait for a table. (Especially in the mornings when I’m 99% likely to be grumpy.) This is where Maialino comes in. Unlike Locanda Verde, Maialino is on OpenTable and a reservation is only a few lazy clicks away. Of course you can make reservations for Locanda Verde by telephone, but personally, I don’t have the patience to call restaurants. Put me on hold, I’ll just hang up. This past Sunday was spent eating Chinese food, but the previous Sunday was spent eating doughnuts, er…. and then eating Chinese food. Nicholas was back in town and we decided to meet up for some doughnut fun at Doughnut Plant. His sister (T), Robyn, and Robyn’s friend Alex also joined in on the morning doughnut eating action. As expected, I was late, Nick almost missed his bus back to Philly (SORRY!), and many tasty doughnuts were eaten. MORE »
On Sunday, after a night of cheap booze on the Lower East Side, I woke up with a massive headache and a hankering for Chinese food. (Well drinks are PURE EVIL!) So after I finally crawled out of bed, the BF and I hopped in a cab and ended up at Hop Kee, our usual Chinatown haunt. This time, along with the usual order of fried flounder and chow fun (By the way, DO NOT order vegetable chow fun and expect extra vegetables. It’s basically their meat chow fun minus the meat, in other words, it’s a plate of noodles, mung bean sprouts, and remnant green specks from the wok.), I also ordered Salted Squid with hot pepper ($16.25), a dish recommended by reader nynyjap. Da Conch Shack was definitely my favorite place to eat in Providenciales, but there were other delectable eats on the island. MORE »
